I'm a writer. Why do I need a website?

To sell more books. To communicate as fast and as clearly as possible. To build your local, national and global readership. To control your public image. To showcase yourself and your work. To publicize your existing titles. To preview your forthcoming releases. To get feedback on your work in progress. To demonstrate and reinforce your credibility and professional integrity as a writer. To express yourself, instantly, any time, any place. And you can also have a whole lot of fun.

Do you take on any writer as a client?

No. We prefer to work only with clients we're comfortable with and who feel comfortable working with us.

Top of Page ^

So how do you get new clients?

Mostly by personal recommendation, but it doesn't take more than a few email exchanges for any new client to find out if we're going to get along and enjoy working together.

Can I sell my books on my website?

In a word, yes. We'll integrate one-click links to any Internet bookseller you specify, including Amazon.

Top of Page ^

What if I want to sell my books direct?

No problem, but remember Writers Direct was set up to market and promote authors with mainstream royalty-paying publishers, not those who are exclusively self-published.

What do I need to provide before you can build my website from scratch?

Nothing except your enthusiasm, your ideas and what you'd like your website to do for you. You're a writer, so website copy won't be a problem. We're very happy to look after everything else.

Top of Page ^

Do you provide ready-made websites?

Not really, because every writer needs an individual, personalized web presence that reflects their work. But we do offer a complete range of templates and components if you'd like "one like that", to keep our delivery times down and your costs as low as possible.

Top of Page ^

Do you provide tailor-made websites?

Yes, of course. And we also provide any combination of bespoke and ready-made elements.

Top of Page ^

What will my website's name be?

Whatever you like. It can feature your own name, the name of your book or anything else you fancy. If someone else is already using the name you want, we'll secure the best possible alternative for you and we'll also help you leapfrog any rival name to the top of the search engine listings.

Top of Page ^

Are there any limits to what I can have on my website?

No. We can handle anything and everything that is possible on the web, and over the years we've pioneered stuff that others said was impossible.

Top of Page ^

Can you provide any graphics, or music, or animation, or audio-visuals, or any other content that I may need on my website?

Yes.

Top of Page ^

Do I own the website and everything on the website that you provide?

Yes. After we deliver your website you can do what you like with it, everything belongs to you. Obviously all the content you say is your copyright must really be your copyright, we can't be responsible for that.

I've already got a website. How can you help me?

Great. We'll help you in every way we can to improve what needs improving and then harness the internet to your best advantage. We are happy to give existing sites a design make-over, and we are equally happy to enhance existing sites by adding online sales, book trailers, blogs, mailing lists, quizzes, viral marketing campaigns, in fact anything and everything you want.

Top of Page ^

I'm perfectly happy with my existing website. What can you do for me?

We will analyze your current web traffic and design the optimum marketing campaign for you. Then we'll promote your existing website to help you get the maximum number of visitors, the maximum positive publicity and increased sales.

Top of Page ^

Do you also design printed material to go with my website?

Yes, of course. Book covers, bookplates for signings, bookmarks for public and promotional use, business cards, you name it and we'll theme everything around you and your latest title. What's more we'll make it all downloadable so you can control exactly what you want to do with it.

Top of Page ^

But I can't get my book published. Can you help?

Yes. Click HERE to get help from our friends and colleagues at Agent Research & Evaluation. They do nothing but help writers find the right agents who make the right deals to publish your book.

Top of Page ^

How much do you charge for your services?

You can get an online quote right here, right now. Just click HERE for a ballpark figure. And if you know exactly what you want, then you can use our automatic reckoner to calculate the exact cost.

Top of Page ^

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. We give a full money-back, no quibble guarantee on all our work and services. If you are not satisfied with anything we've agreed to deliver, you don't pay for it. Simple as that.

Top of Page ^

When do I pay?

Our terms are the usual ones: 50% when we agree your project and 50% when we deliver. If there is any ongoing work you'd like us to do or ongoing services you'd like us to provide then we can work out payments monthly, quarterly or annually, it's up to you.

Top of Page ^

What if I can't pay the balance of what I owe for work delivered?

We're always happy to listen and talk, and we know that sometimes there can be a cash glitch in a writer's life. If there's a problem then we'll keep your website on ice and replace it with a friendly little screen until the funds flow again.

Top of Page ^

Can you get me to the top on Google?

Almost certainly. We've done it for writers and artists with names and book titles that are probably more common than your own, which means they were up against tougher opposition. If we could do it for them, we can do it for you.

Top of Page ^

Can you arrange for all the technical stuff, or do I have to do that?

We can facilitate everything for you, from the registration of new domain names, the transfer of existing domain names, website hosting, email services, mailing lists, statistical reports, online publicity campaigns, and all the backroom stuff that makes a website successful.

Top of Page ^

Are you really dedicated to websites for writers and nothing else?

Yes we are. Writers Direct provides websites for published authors and soon-to-be-published authors, and we also promote writers' websites and titles. Nothing else. Our sister company Agent Research and Evaluation does nothing but help writers find the right literary agent for their work. We draw on a pool of specialists and experts with the best track records in the business.
